the cotteridge church  birmingham

The Cotteridge Church is the result of a Local Ecumenical Project between Anglicans, Methodists and United Reformed Churches in a busy south Birmingham suburb. The project was in partnership with the city's Social Services Department and Area Health Authority. The Anglican and URC sites were sold for retail and housing uses whilst the Methodist buildings were extended and upgraded to form the Church Centre. A new wing, effectively an additional south aisle on the original church, provides an entrance and gathering point from which all other parts of the complex can be reached.

Alongside the worship spacecommunity are and meeting rooms, coffee bar and fully equipped day centre for the elderly, mentally infirm. The new building was designed in sympathy with the old, and to encourage easy access from the street outside. The church had a sloping floor and heavy, fixed furnishings and this space has been reordered to become a setting for more flexible forms of worship.
