Holly Doron co-wrote the paper ‘Integration of Practice Experience into the Design of Undergraduate Courses’ with Christopher Maloney, Hannah Vowles and Ian Shepherd of Birmingham City University.

“The UK architectural education process is undergoing a series of reviews, but there are calls for more urgent action, and for improved collaboration between architectural education and practice. This pilot study investigates what pre-emptive pedagogical action is emerging in the current framework to integrate practice experience into undergraduate architectural education.”

Holly and Hannah presented this research at the Association of Architectural Educators (AAE) 2017 Conference at Oxford Brookes University to academics and practitioners from around the world.

If students gain an understanding, and
enthusiasm, for the profession at an earlier
stage, the more likely they are to take control
of their own networks and transform
approaches in both practice and academia,
rather than fitting in with the existing
conditions. They can lead the change.
