”It was really interesting to gain an understanding of the underlying design principles of some the region's best buildings. The ensuing discussions with other jury members, including a lay member, was an insight into how the perception of a building can vary between people. That said, we mostly managed to quickly reach a consensus on which entrants to shortlist.

Naomi was invited to be a member of the jury panel for the 2018 RIBA West Midlands Awards. Naomi took part in a day’s shortlisting workshop with the other members of the jury. The next stage is for the jury members to visit each of the eleven shortlisted buildings across the West Midlands.
“To me, the real test is meeting the end users, and understanding how the building has met their brief in terms of quality of space, how people engage with it, and its function.”
